Snakes, turtles, chameleons, iguanas, and alligators filled our afternoon. Summer, my currently budding zoologist, was completely enthralled. It was a touring show we watched at St. Albert Centre: Safari Jeff. He actually lives in Alberta, to my understanding, but has been touring the US and Canada with his reptiles for the past 25 years. His show was fast paced, engaging and fun. He brought out his animals in turn and talked about them. While off to get the next one, two large screens would go into further detail and show additional footage.
After the 30 minute show, we visited the table being manned by his wife and bought one of their children's books: all about wildlife in Africa. She asked the kids what their favorites were: Aidan said all of them and Summer said the alligator. Mine? Definitely the chameleon. It totally entranced me. It was gorgeous and yet elegant. There was a cat-likeness to its moving and being.

Summer told me in the car on the way home that she wanted to see all his remaining shows while in Edmonton. It's not terribly feasible for us but I'm glad she enjoyed it so much. She also feels confident she wants to do the same thing when she grows up: tour the world with reptiles. Sounds like fun to me!
